Streaming FAQ

CBSHerald Live Audio Frequently Asked Questions:
Question 1:
My computer is asking me what program to use when opening the “Click here to listen live” link. What program can I use?
Answer:
The link opens a .m3u file, which tells your media player the location of the streaming audio in mp3 format. You can use almost any media player to open the file. Some popular (and free) choices are Windows Media Player, RealPlayer, Winamp, and VLC Media Player. You probably already have one or more media players installed on your computer.

Question 2:
When I clicked the link, my computer downloaded a file. What do I do now?
Answer:
You can use almost any media player to open the file. For additional information about media players, see the answer to question 1.

Question 3:
What if I am using a Tablet or smartphone?
Answer:
Applie iOS should be able to play the stream by default.
With Android you will need a to install a media player that can handle HTTP streaming. ServeStream is one that works for this.
Both iOS and Android should be able to use the embedded player here.

Question 4:
My media player stopped playing during the teaching.
Answer:
We may be experiencing technical difficulties. Usually, you can resume listening immediately by pressing the play button on your media player or by clicking the link on our website again. Occasionally, it may take a few minutes for the webcast to resume.

Question 5:
My media player says “cannot find the specified file” or “requested file not found”.
Answer:

Also, if you are using an m3u file previously downloaded to your computer to connect, please visit the CBSHerald website for the current link. If these suggestions do not help, contact us.
